Servant Leadership: the key to High-Performance Teachers

 How to cultivate effective teachers

According to recent research, the key to cultivating high-performance teachers is by displaying one of the most underutilized leadership styles in our schools: Servant Leadership.
But how does Servant Leadership develop High-Performance teachers? The answer is simple: focus on your teachers first, and provide them with what they need to be successful. And even though it sounds like a no-brainer, it much more difficult to accomplish it. Why? Because it takes a lot of time to get to know who you are working with and what they really need to be highly effective in the classroom.

Whether you are a school leader or you are leading in some capacity,  you can ask yourself the following questions about your leadership style.

1- Are you focusing on growing the people you lead personally and professionally?
2- Do you provide them with resources to help them feel confident and successful?
3- Are you providing them with meaningful feedback in the context of an open, ongoing dialogue?
4- Do you often check the school's or team's climate to reflect on your impact and performance as a leader?
5- Are your goals clearly stated for everyone to understand what is expected from them and why?

While reading about this topic, I came across this infographic which  provides the key information to understand the importance of Servant Leadership in our schools.
